Top Readers’ Photos In Japan: June 2020

After the rain the sun will shine again.

June in Japan, the month of weather mood-swings, where one day it’s pouring down from the skies and the next it’s pouring out of our sweat glands. As we suffer and suffocate in damp silence and daily masks, waiting for the grey clouds to pass, let’s take a look at the beauty rain can bring and pray the weather gods bless us with sunny skies soon.

Every month, we select our favorite travel images from readers. Tag your photo on Instagram with #GaijinPotTravel for a chance to be featured on our site!

Have been taking another much needed break from here, but back to continue sharing more of Japan. This gem is like something straight out of a Ghibli movie. ⁣ ⁣ We stopped for a day trip at Himeji Castle before settling in Kyoto for the night. It’s a national treasure and @unescoworldheritage site being one of the twelve original castles remaining, without being destroyed. ?⁣ ⁣ It was beautiful to see and great exercise walking up to the inside of the castle. It was pretty crowded inside as we walked up several narrow flights of stairs to the top. But the views made it all worth it. ?⁣ ⁣ We also had another great opportunity to take our violin photo to add to the collection. It was the perfect backdrop ? ⁣ ⁣ What is one of your favorite castles you’ve seen while traveling? Would love to add to our list. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #japantravels #thejapandiscovery #gaijinpottravel #himejicastle #hyogoprefecture #castlesoftheworld #asiatravel #unescoworldheritagesite #japantour #japan_bestpic_ #familytraveller #worldtraveler #kidswhotravel #travelingfamilies #letthemexplore #exploringglobe

Another rainy day here ☔️ ⁣ ⁣ … but nothing can dampen my spirits as it’s finally summer break for me! ?⁣ ⁣ It’s a bit of a shame summer break coincides with 梅雨 tsuyu – rainy season but I’m sure there’ll still be some good sunny weather to look forward to! ☀️ ⁣ ⁣ It’s expected to last until July 21st in the Kanto region (where Tokyo is) & it started June 8th – such a long period of rain! I half want to wish it to be over already but then I’d be wishing away half of my holiday ? Do you get affected much by cloudy, rainy weather? ? ⁣ ⁣ ? Metsä village, Hanno, Saitama. Metsä village is a park, woodland & lake with a few shops inspired by the Nordic lifestyle & mindset. They also sell lots of fresh, local produce too! ? The Moomin Valley Park has recently reopened (so I’m hoping to visit again soon to see the cute Moomins! ?). And of course, if you visit, wear a mask! ?
