Top 10 Readers’ Photos: November 2018 in Japan

The turning leaves of autumn matched with the twinkle of winter illuminations across Japan.

While northern Japan already has snow and colder temps, going south to Tokyo and down, it is lesser defined. Last month, we got to still enjoy the turning leaves of autumn matched with the twinkle of winter illuminations across Japan. Our readers saw the best of Japan from taking a traditional boat ride in Kyoto to glimpsing Mount Fuji from the onsen bath. Every month, we select our favorite travel images from readers. Tag your photo on Instagram or Twitter with #GaijinPotTravel for a chance to be featured on our site.

1. You gotta love on some sushi while you’re here, and yes, the Tsukiji Outer Market is still open, even though the inner market moved to Toyosu.

2. One of our favorite secret bamboo groves … not in Kyoto…!

A serene image for a relaxing Sunday. Hokoku-ji Temple is located in a small residential area of Kamakura, about an hour train ride from Tokyo. It’s quite a small temple with a beautiful Buddhist garden as you enter. Hidden behind is a bamboo forest with a path to a charming tea house. ? You can sip on matcha and enjoy the tranquility of the forest views with sounds of a stream nearby. Looking forward to edit some pics I took with my actual camera when I went on a photo walk with a good friend of mine, @raptorjesuss.
