The annual Sanda Cherry Blossom Festival returns this spring to celebrate the breathtaking Mukogawa Sakura Zukumi Corridor. This 25-kilometer stretch features 4,000 cherry trees along the Mukogawa River and is one of Hyogo’s most underrated cherry blossom viewing spots. The 2025 Sanda Cherry Blossom Festival will take place on Sunday, March 30, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (canceled in case of rain). While cherry blossoms line the river, the heart of the event will be at Sanda City Cultural Center (Gonooto Hall). This is also where the stunning 500-meter path, illuminated by 180 glowing lanterns beneath the blooming cherry trees, begins. Food and drink booths will feature delicious offerings made with locally sourced Sanda ingredients alongside fun stalls selling balloons, candy floss and other festive treats. Reserve in advance to receive a free cherry tree seedling from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

During the festival, you’ll find plenty of exciting and interactive activities to enjoy. Try your hand at flying and programming drones, check out the latest Toyota models or experience their driving simulator. For gaming enthusiasts, the Japan Retro Game Association will host a Retro Game Corner filled with nostalgic classics. If you’re into crafts, you can create a handmade postcard for free between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., or for just ¥500, make a beautiful Cherry Blossom Snow Globe to take home.
Children can explore the lively festival booths that offer strikeout games, yo-yo fishing, lotteries ball scooping games and more. The main stage will host live performances all day, featuring local talents and special guests to energize the crowd.
