One of the highlights of Resort 21 is the Kurofune train, also known as the Black Ship Train. It pays homage to Commodore Perry’s warships, which ended Japan’s isolation in 1853. This train runs from Tokyo Bay to Shimoda, where the fleet of black ships once docked. The exterior of the train is designed to reflect this historical significance, offering passengers a unique journey through time.

The Kurofune train alternates with the Resort 21 “Kinme” train. Both trains provide breathtaking panoramic views. The main feature of the Kinme train is the use of red, reminiscent of the kinmedai fish, a symbol of Izu. Each train car is dedicated to a different municipality and showcases the special products of that area, including kinmedai fish. It’s a fun and informative experience that you wouldn’t want to miss.
