New Reoma World

New Reoma Park in western Japan features over 20 attractions aimed at children and adults alike.

By Elizabeth Sok

Located in Shikoku’s Kagawa Prefecture, New Reoma World is the largest theme park in western Japan. With dozens of attractions, plenty of entertainment and seasonal events throughout the year, this theme park has lots to enjoy for visitors of all ages.

New Reoma Park features over 20 attractions aimed at children and adults alike. Young fans of Thomas the Tank Engine will want to check out the train ride featuring the beloved character. Take a seat behind the steering wheel of a go-kart and race around a track to cross the finish line first. If roller coasters are your ride of choice, try the one that has you speeding over the surface of the water.

One of the most popular attractions at New Reoma Park is the Ferris wheel which carries you high above the park on a wheel measuring about 50 meters in diameter. Head indoors to take a break from the elements and enjoy craft tables and Gokko Town, a space where children can try their hand at one of several occupations, such as police officer and sushi chef.

While the main part of New Reoma World packs in a lot of rides and attractions, there are other areas to explore if you pay a little extra at the ticket booth. One of the largest is Oriental Trip which contains several replicas of famous Asian buildings, large gardens with a variety of flowers and Japan’s longest escalator. In addition to a mosque and a replica of Bhutan’s Tashichho Dzong Monastery, you’ll find an ancient Buddhist temple from Thailand, Prasat Hin Arun. Measuring 42 meters high and 96 meters long, Magic Straw is the longest escalator in Japan. When the sun sets, enjoy the ride down surrounded by hundreds of bulbs.

Asian Nights, held every night in the Oriental Trip section of the park, allows visitors to see reproductions of ancient Angkor architecture illuminated with thousands of colorful lights.
