The freaks come out at night.

Looking for somewhere to dance from dusk till dawn in Japan this Halloween? In big cities like Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya, you’ll find several nightclubs hosting events with international DJs, and costume contests with huge prizes. No matter where in Japan you find yourself this scary season though, there’s always somewhere to get in the Halloween spirit.

Throw on your best T-Rex costume and check out these Halloween parties to hit up in Japan in 2019.

Womb Halloween

One of the wildest Halloween parties in Tokyo will be held at Womb again in collaboration with the premium liqueur brand, Cocarello. New York-based DJ Bill Patrick will make his first appearance at the Shibuya nightclub this year! If you’ve never danced underneath Womb’s disco ball, you haven’t lived. A good time any night, we can only imagine how hype it will be during Halloween.

Tokyo Decadance

If you reeaally like dressing up for Halloween, or like seeing people in elaborate fetish gear and victorian gothic wear, this is the event for you. Tokyo Decadance is celebrating its 14th anniversary this year and has plans to be crazier and sexier than ever. The flashier your costume is, the bigger the discount you get on the admission price, so come dressed to impress. These partiers will put your Don Quijote costume to shame.

Maharaja Halloween

Come dressed in your scariest (or sexiest) outfit for your chance to win up to ¥500,000 worth of luxury prizes! The party lasts over three days, giving you plenty of opportunities to party with sexy dancers, DJs, and festive drink specials. The costume contest will be held nightly between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. but get there before 9 p.m. for discounted entry—only ¥2,000 for men and ¥1,000 for women plus a free drink. Ladies get in free after midnight!

Sabishinbo Night at Vision

Nightclub Vision will be throwing a very special Halloween party featuring guest artist DJ tofubeats alongside other resident DJs. Dancers from Cyber Japan will also be present to get the party started.

Black Veil Halloween

If Goth, Horror, EBM, or Dark Techno is your thing, you’re gonna love this Osaka event. Enjoy some of the creepiest DJs pumping their tunes through the night, including guest DJs Doom Spider and Gore Scorpio. Plus it’s co-hosted by Osaka’s infamous occult shop, Territory. Now if that doesn’t scream Halloween, we don’t know what does. This one has a very strict dress code so make sure you’re dressed up in your scariest Halloween costume or else.

On and On Halloween Disco

The beat goes on and on at this Halloween disco night with all your favorite 70s boogie-night tunes. In addition to luxury prizes for the best dressed, there’s also discounted entry for men, and free entry for women who are dressed head to toe in costume. If you aren’t feeling too creative, just get your makeup done at the free face-painting booth inside.

Mexigan Halloween Party

Celebrate Halloween with plenty of tequila and Coronas at Bar Mexigan in Nagoya. Their Halloween party will be held over three days in October—on Halloween day and the weekend closest to it. Unlike some of the others, this party is super casual, so no sweat about getting elaborately dressed up. Just come and enjoy the drinks and vibes.

Club JB's Absolute Halloween

An absolutely insane bar-hopping extravaganza across 13 venues in Sakae, Nagoya’s sexy red light district. A ¥4000 wristband will give you access to all the venues, each with its own spooky feel and DJ bumping music from J-pop to hip-hop. The party starts at Club JB’s in Sakae.

Bijou Halloween

Win up to ¥1million worth of prizes at one of the biggest Halloween parties in Fukuoka. Special DJs, elaborate costumes, and Halloween-inspired drinks are par for the course, as usual. Bijou is touted as one of the most foreigner-friendly clubs in Kyushu, with a large international customer base and English-speaking staff. The party is always happening here whether it’s Halloween or not!

Luxs Turn Up Friday Halloween Special

Tequila bowls anyone? Yes, you read that right, there will be bowls of tequila—not shots, bowls. Show that you’re following Luxs on Instagram or Facebook for ¥1,000 off the entry price.

Halloween at King Xmhu

While most clubs have a costume contest, this nightclub in the far north is upping the ante with prizes totaling ¥1 million including plane tickets for travel in Japan and beyond! You have three chances to win, Oct. 25, 26, and 31, but the party is going down all month long. Ladies in costume can indulge in all you can drink Halloween cocktails, and free admission (except on the days of the contest).
