Towards the northern part of Awaji Island in southern Hyogo prefecture, there is a beautiful flower garden known as Awaji Hanasajiki or Awaji Flower Gallery.
Seasonal blooms

Photo by: WikiCommons/ Akas1950 Awaji Hanasajiki is beautiful all year.
The area of flowers is substantially large, with 15 hectares of various colored flowers that differ depending on the season. Because of this, it’s a location that can be enjoyed year-round. On a sunny day, the view is spectacular.
The flowers in season are abundantly scattered along the slope and are usually quite aromatic. Each season offers a highly contrasted landscape of flowers and colors, so every time you visit will feel like a new encounter. The park’s location is on top of a high hill, so it can get quite chilly from the breeze. Make sure to dress a little warmer than usual during any season but summer.
Picturesque views

There is an observation deck on higher ground where you can get a bird’s eye view of all the incredible nature and scenery.
At Awaji Hanasajiki, there is no designated “picture spot” because every corner of the park is gorgeous enough for a photoshoot. With a panoramic view of Osaka Bay, Kansai International Airport and Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, the photo ops are endless.
Local eats

Awaji Hanasajiki also has a building with cafes, ice cream shops, and souvenir stores. The “Galleri” cafeteria on the second floor opened a few years ago and offers western-style sandwiches and treats.
Here, you can rest while taking in the stunning and peaceful views of the fields. But don’t forget about the hallmark of Awaji Island: Onions. After your peaceful retreat, you can bring home one of Awaji’s famous sweet onions, among the local goods sold at the market on the ground level.
While there is a small fee for parking, the free entrance to the park is the icing on the cake.
